Survival Camp (ages 10-14)
We are so excited to add Survival Camp to Tymor Park this year!
Survival Camp is an outdoor, adventure experience for campers ages 10 to 14. Each session of Survival Camp will build your child’s confidence, enhancing their individual strengths while working cooperatively. Whether your child is a novice or more advanced in the outdoors, everyone has something to learn and bring to the Survival Camp experience. Boys and girls alike will enjoy growing their wealth of outdoor knowledge so they can become problem-solvers in any situation.
A session of Survival Camp will include:
* Orienteering * Exploration * Teamwork *Leave-No-Trace *Fire Safety *Basic First-Aid * Water purification & Collection *Finding Food & Shelter (and definitely s’mores) * Animal & Creature tracking *Survival Kit Building & Using Tools * Creating Emergency Plans * Mapping Territories & Trails * Artisan Activities * Fishing & Bow Making * Building Forts, Bunkers, & Shelters * Role Playing & Contests * Survival & Scientific “Hacks” * Low Element Challenge Course
Each two-week camp session will revolve around a common theme where survival elements will be applied through theory, training, and practice. Experienced Trail Staff will give each child creative opportunities to discover and explore Tymor Forest and it’s valuable resources.
Safety is our number one priority. Parents and children must be made fully aware that there is a higher risk when exposed to the natural elements and scenarios in the wild. Our goal is to teach children to evaluate risk by making positive and knowledgeable decisions based on their surroundings.
Trail Code: Campers must adhere to a high level of behavior expectations to ensure their safety at all times. Survival Campers will be held to a high standard, as we represent the respectful use of Tymor Forest and adhere to the Trail Code. Our interactions with each other impact everyone on a personal and environmental level. Expectations will be clear to campers by a Trail Code Contract that will be issued the first day of each new session. Please discuss the importance of positive behavior with your child before attending to make sure they can enjoy the full scope of what Survival Camp can offer.
