Camp Info 2014
MINI CAMP
ages 4-5 (Pre-K)
Our Mini Camp program is carefully designed to blend the structure and support of a traditional pre-school setting with the wonderful world of summer camp. Small group sizes (8 children per group), low ratios, and staff carefully chosen for their experience working with young children ensure that all campers have a nurturing, successful and very fun first camp experience. Activities include swimming, nature education, arts and crafts, free play, music, drama and games. “Big Camp” activities like morning assembly, sports, and hiking are introduced in a developmentally sensitive way. Special events like the “Mini-Camp/CIT Car Wash” and the Teddy Bear Picnic help create some truly wonderful memories. Our Mini Camp facilities include a large cabin with indoor play space and covered eating area and an enclosed natural playground and giant hillside slide.

INCLUSION SUMMER CAMP
We believe that EVERY child deserves the chance to experience the joy and magic of summer camp. We also believe that the full inclusion of children with developmental, social, emotional, behavioral, and/or medical special needs enhances and enriches our community for ALL children. Because of this, we do not offer a separate program for children with special needs, but rather do everything in our power to make sure that our regular (“mainstream”) programs are accessible to all children, regardless of ability level. In order to ensure the success of every child at camp we have:
A staff of 5 full time Inclusion Specialists (professional staff with backgrounds in such fields as Special Education, Psychology, Clinical Social Work, Physical & Recreational Therapy)
Small groups
A highly trained counseling staff,
Inclusion services can include (but are not limited to):
Pre-camp meetings with parents and campers that allow us to get to know your child, and your child to get to know camp, before the summer even begins;
On-going communication with parents throughout the summer;
On-going staff training & supervision promoting best practices in accomodations, social skill building, behavior management, etc.
Individualized accomodations designed to help your child succeed (e.g., picture schedules; social stories; positive behavior plans).
